Am I schizophrenic or a booze hound?

I had a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia for 12 years. Although I had auditory hallucinations and thought yahoo! wanted to kill me most of the time I was so depressed I just slept. Now my doctor is telling me it was all alcohol psychosis. Is this possible or is she just trying to get me to drink less!!?
