How do i reach out to god?

i feel lost and confused in life right now.. its like im drowning in a pool and no ones here to help... i just kinda feel like i belong to no one and the idea of religion has always been there for me yet in all my attempts ive never been able to truly be convinced of a greater force.. my primal instincts tell me there is a greater force but my logic contradicts it.. i guess all im trying to say is i reallly wish god could just open up the clouds, brew some hot chocolate, slip into some comfy pajamas, and sit around the fireplace and have a one on one conversation with me...
