Compare situations.. Honduras crisis?
That is interesting, but improbable, though it is useful to have people understand some of what has been going on there. Not sure how any President could pull off a referendum since there is no mechanism in place to do so on a federal level. More likely it would be the hilter scenario by locking the opposition out of Congress and threatening those who are left with violence if they don't go along with a vote to grant him special powers, or to quickly amend the constitution to give him another term, but then the people wouldn't vote in something like that. I don't see something like that happening in the US. If it were tried by anyone, it would result in mive civil unrest and violence and the probable civil and economic breakdown of the entire country and the end of the US as we know it. But if people are starving, who knows what might happen. Any way it would be the end of the US and the establishment of something else.
