What is the best sort of laptop for me, how much will it cost etc?

i am currently at school and i need a laptop so i can easily surf the web and a mainly use my current laptop for facebook, coursework and listening to cds my internet at the moment is very temperamental so i need to think about that too maybe built in internet. what will i need and what sort of price do u think i will be looking at to get all this? advise desperately needed!
