Since the winter season began,both of my ears have been aching so much.?

The left one stopped then the right one began. it is like they were on shifts.So ,i know they will be ok ater along period of me ,enduring the pain.I don't want to go to the doctor because maybe the doctor will recommend surgery instead of examination.I dont even have nice sleep because ,every time i switch my sleeping position ,the ears aches that i have to hold my head for long so the pain stops which is just too much for me.My question is ,do you think i should go see the doctor?,Are there any prescriptions that i can take atleast to relieve the pain ?,
